Monsters

A friend and neighbor has this hilarious Halloween display as part of a popular Haunted Gardens walk-through for neighborhood trick-or treaters. They had great candy, too!
I’m listening to “Angus Desire” from A Woofer in Tweeter's Clothing by Sparks.

Party poopers
The Phillies won the World Series last night for only the second time in their history and that’s a really big deal. A lot of people, including myself(!) in Philly are justifiably overjoyed about it. Fans were partying like lunatics in the streets last night and there’s going to be a big parade down Broad Street tomorrow to celebrate. Sadly—and this has happened in the chat room more than a few times during the past few weeks—a few guys just had to take a steaming shit on everyone else’s good time.
MamonoHunterNeo: its funny how much money people spend on sports
MamonoHunterNeo: and the other places it could go
MamonoHunterNeo: construction of stadiums, etc
thezooguy: the homeless
thezooguy: education
thezooguy: better roads
thezooguy: the budget
MamonoHunterNeo: how many hospitals could you build with the same amount of money?
onetom4u: not many
MamonoHunterNeo: okay, well id feel better about there being like seven hospitals in africa instead of the yankees having a new stadium
Sethboy: deja vu didn't we have a similar discussion in here recently? (the whole "spending money vs helping people" discussion)?
thezooguy: possibly but i'ts much better than the one about how great the phillies are cause that one has been run into the ground
Maybe we can take a bit of the money people spend on pop music, video games or weed and build some roads and hospitals with that. People never seem to think their own interests are a waste of time and money, do they?
I’m listening to “First Communion” from Saint Dymphna by Gang Gang Dance.

Design abuse

Someone has used this famous image from Abu Ghraib as design element without even pretending to be making some kind of art. I can’t believe they’re serous. On the funny side, even though the image is so familiar, it still looks like Carol Merrill in a KKK robe presenting the time and place.
I’m listening to “What a Wonderful World” from A Wonderful World by Tony Bennett and k.d. lang.
